In order to attain the CAP or CAP-OM/TA designation, applicants must submit an application form and verification of employment with the appropriate fees and write a comprehensive three- or four-part exam.

What is the application deadline?
Applications must be postmarked by February 15 for the May exams; August 15 for the November exams.
What information is needed for the application?
A Job Function and Employer's Statement (provided in the application packet) must be attached to verify all needed experience. Your employer must verify that your job was of an administrative nature and met the required criteria. If you are claiming multiple instances of employment, you will need a separate statement from each employer.
A copy of the transcript or diploma is required to verify college or university credit being used towards the experience levels.
A resume should be attached showing all education and experience, but verification form the employer(s) must still be submitted.
What are the dates of the exams?
The CAP and CAP-OM exams are administered the first consecutive Friday and Saturday of May and November. Parts 1–2 of the CAP exams are administered all day Saturday and Part 3 of the CAP-OM exam is administered Friday afternoon.
What methods of payment are accepted?
Cheque, credit card, or a bank draft. Do not send cash. We do not accept postal money orders.
Enroll as a CAP candidate first, pass the exam and meet the experience requirements, and then enroll as a CAP-OM or a CAP-TA candidate (taking Part 4 only).
How does a current CAP holder earn the CAP-OM or CAP-TA rating?
By applying for and passing the OM(Organizational Management) or TA(Technology Applications) exam.
How do I submit the fees and application?
Mail the application and backup documents, along with a cheque payable to IAAP, to IAAP Headquarters. The address can be found on the application form.
